Parliament Winter Session: The deadlock over the dates of the winter session of Parliament has ended. Assembly election results of five states will come on December 3. After this, the session will start the next day i.e. from 4th and it will continue till 22nd December. Under this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi will organize an all-party meeting on December 2 at 11 am. Many important bills are likely to come before the House in these meetings.

All-party meeting called

This time, in view of the announcement of election results of five states on December 3, a meeting will be held with all the parties two days before the parliamentary session. The Ethics Committee report on cash-for-queries allegations against Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra will also be tabled in the Lok Sabha in this session. The report must be approved by the House before the panel’s recommended boycott can take effect.

How many days will the meetings last?

These meetings will run for a total of 19 days with 15 meetings from December 4 to December 22. Important bills are likely to be introduced in these meetings. Bills related to amendments in IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act will be discussed. Three reports related to these bills have already reached the Standing Committee of the Union Home Ministry. Similarly, the bills related to the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners pending in the Parliament will also be discussed in these meetings.

Actually, the winter session of Parliament begins every year in the third week of November and ends before Christmas. But, this time the winter session of Parliament is starting late in the background of assembly elections in five states. As usual the session will end before Christmas.
