NIA Raid: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken major action today on Saturday. NIA has busted the fake note making racket. NIA has conducted raids at several places in four states in this regard. During this, NIA has seized fake notes of Rs 6,600 (Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100) along with fake note paper, printer and digital gadgets.

This action by the NIA was related to a case registered on November 24 under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The raids targeted individuals who were suspected to be part of a larger conspiracy to smuggle fake currency across the borders and promote its circulation in various states of India.

NIA teams have raided the premises of Rahul Tanaji Patil in Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, Shiva Patil in Yavatmal district, Vivek Thakur in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Mahendra in Ballari district of Karnataka and Shashi Bhushan in Rohtas district of Bihar.

NIA had seized fake notes from Vivek Thakur’s house. Investigation revealed that he, along with Shiva Patil and others, had purchased counterfeiting equipment from neighboring countries. Apart from this, the investigating agency has seized the printer from Mahendra’s house.

However, further investigation revealed that Rahul Tanaji Patil was using fake SIM cards to supply fake notes. It was through this number that he used to negotiate for payment. He had also obtained this SIM card fraudulently.
