IPL News: Delhi Capitals have released Shane Watson and Ajit Agarkar from their coaching staff for the Indian Premier League 2024 season. After two consecutive seasons of poor performance, Delhi Capitals (DC) have decided to downsize their coaching staff. Both former players were in the role of assistant coach under Ricky Ponting, Head Coach and Sourav Ganguly, Director of Cricket.

There were reports in the middle of the season that the decision to downsize the coaching staff was taken after the season when Delhi were losing back to back matches. A source in the IPL franchise said, “Nothing happens in the mid-season, but after two consecutive seasons of poor results, the team’s co-owners JSW and GMR sat down and decided to postpone the season.” Let’s take stock of.

A source told the media that the team is in no mood to have a bigger coaching staff next season. This role can be given to just a few players. Prior to this, the entire coaching staff consisted of Director of Cricket, Ponting (Head Coach), James Hopes, Ajit Agkar, Shane Watson and Pravin Amre in the role of Assistant Coaches. Sourav Ganguly was involved as the director.

David Warner, who was appointed captain in the absence of Rishabh Pant, did not bat well in the tournament. Batting remained a problem for Delhi throughout the season. Along with this, Prithvi Shaw and Rovman Powell could not leave their mark with the bat.
