Cricket News: Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag has rubbished recent speculations that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had approached him for the post of chief selector. These days the post of Chief Selector in the Indian Cricket Team is vacant. Let us tell you that Chetan Sharma had to lose the post of chief selector due to a sting operation.

According to media reports, when Virender Sehwag was asked whether he has been offered the post of chief selector by the BCCI, Virender Sehwag replied in the negative. Recently, Chetan Sharma was removed from the post of chief selector after confidential information related to team selection and Indian cricketers came to the fore in the sting operation. Since then the post of chief selector in the Indian team is lying vacant. Since then former Indian player Shiv Sunder Das has been acting as the interim chief selector. While S Sarath (South), Subroto Banerjee (Central) and Salil Ankola (West) are serving as members of the panel.

The BCCI on Thursday put out an advertisement on its website for the post of a member of the men’s selection committee. In such a situation, the candidates involved in this process will be called for the interview. Out of these the selected candidate will be given the post of Chief Selector of the Selection Committee. Candidate should have experience of playing seven test matches or 30 first class matches or 10 ODIs and 20 first class matches. He must have retired from the game at least five years ago. The last date to apply for the post is June 30.
