This was the first time that the pair of Satwik-Chirag had reached the final of a BWF World Tour Super 1000 event.
The Indian pair had to fight hard to reach the finals. They defeated South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae in a tight three-set semi-final match. However, he showed his mettle in the final and defeated the defending World Champion in just 43 minutes. The Indian pair started slowly in the first game but quickly picked up the pace and were leading 11-9 at the mid-game interval. However, in the second game, the Indians dominated from the start. However, the Malaysian pair tried hard to claw their way back into the match till the end. Due to the dominance of the Indian pair in the match, they could not handle the pressure and finally succumbed to the Indian pair.
