NCRB Data On Acid Attack: According to the new report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), women from Bengaluru were the victims of most acid attacks in the country last year. Maximum 6 acid attacks took place in Bengaluru in 2022. Out of which the police registered six cases. The second name in this list is from Delhi. Where five women became its victims. According to the data, NCRB has released a list of about 19 big cities. Ahmedabad stood third after Bengaluru and Delhi, where five such cases were reported.
Attempt to attack 7 times in Delhi
NCRB data has shown that last year the maximum number of 7 acid attack attempts took place in Delhi. After this, 3 such cases were registered in Bengaluru last year. Meanwhile, two such cases of attempted attacks were registered in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad in 2022.
Major cases of acid attacks in Bengaluru in 2022
Last year, the most famous case of acid attack in Bengaluru took place on April 28. The accused attacked the 24-year-old M.Com student when she was going to work. According to the police, the accused was stalking the woman for many years. He approached her for marriage and when she rejected his proposal he sprinkled acid on her. The man was later caught in May from Tiruvannamalai Ashram where he was allegedly hiding in the guise of Swami.
Another popular case in Bengaluru was of June 2022. In which a man allegedly threw acid on his girlfriend’s face because she refused to marry him.
Acid attack on 17 year old girl in Delhi
On December 7, a 54-year-old man threw acid on a 17-year-old girl in Anand Parvat area of Delhi. After this the accused himself drank acid. The accused died during treatment. Police said that the accused had attacked the girl in front of her house. The accused was identified as Prem Singh. The victim suffered minor burns. After treatment, the doctors discharged him.
Delhi is the most unsafe city
Delhi is the most unsafe city for women, 3 rapes took place here in a day. NCRB has also said in the 2022 report that Delhi is the most unsafe city for women. Here in 2022, 3 rape cases were registered in one day. The 546-page report of NCRB states that a total of 4 lakh 45 thousand 256 cases of crimes against women were registered in the country, which means approximately 51 FIRs were registered every hour. In 2021, this figure was 4 lakh 28 thousand 278. Also, it was also said that crimes against women have increased by 4 percent compared to 2021. Whereas in 2022, 28 thousand 522 murder cases were registered i.e. 78 murders took place every day.
