Turkey-Syria Earthquake: Whenever any country in the world is in trouble, India is always ready to help it. In this episode, India has provided help to thousands of people suffering in the devastating earthquake in Turkey under Operation Dost. India’s NDRF team was sent to Turkey for this operation. The last team of the National Disaster Response Force engaged in the operation has also returned to India. Under this Operation Dost, 151 jawans were sent to Turkey in three teams. Apart from 151 personnel of the NDRF team, the dog squad was also sent there. Meanwhile, NDRF teams helped earthquake victims at 35 places in Noordagi and Antakya. Along with this, the work of evacuating the people buried in the debris was done.

What did the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency say?

According to media reports, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency said in its statement on February 18 that almost two weeks have passed since the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Search and rescue operations have now ended in most provinces. AFAD chief Yunis Sezer said that the death toll due to the earthquake in Turkey continues to rise. We are confident that by tomorrow night we will wrap up the search and rescue operation.

How was India’s Operation Dost in Turkey?

More than 45,000 people have died due to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on 6 February. While more than one million people have become homeless. India was one of the first countries to help in this hour of crisis for both the countries. India launched Operation Dost campaign to help earthquake victims in both the countries. Under this, India sent a large amount of relief material to Turkey and Syria. Two hundred and fifty soldiers of the Indian Army were deployed to help the people in the most affected areas here. During this, 150 NDRF teams, dog squads, special vehicles and other supplies were sent to Turkey from the Indian side. While portable ECG machines, patient monitors, emergency medicines and health equipment were also sent to Syria.
