India-Canada Row: The dispute between India and Canada is not stopping. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau had accused India of conspiring to kill Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. After this, the Indian government asked Canada to recall dozens of diplomats from the country and set a deadline of October 10. Meanwhile, Ottawa has recalled most of its diplomatic staff.
Canada expelled its diplomats from India
According to media reports, diplomats posted in New Delhi have been transferred to either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore amid the diplomatic controversy over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. On Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that India has asked Canada to reduce diplomatic staff to bring parity. Bagchi said that in view of the very high diplomatic presence in India and their continued interference in our internal affairs. However, we sought parity in our respective diplomatic presence. However, the number of how many diplomats have left India so far is not clear. No official statement has been issued on this yet.
Trudeau had alleged
Recently, diplomatic relations between India and Canada have soured after Trudeau accused Indian agents in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on September 19. Nijjar was a Canadian citizen and was shot dead by two masked gunmen in June. India had rejected the allegations as false. At the same time, in return for expelling an Indian official, Ottawa expelled a senior Canadian diplomat over this matter.
