India vs Canada on Khalsitan: India also took tit-for-tat action on Tuesday after Canada expelled an Indian High Commissioner after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged links between the Indian government and the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India has expelled the Canadian High Commissioner. The Ministry of External Affairs today summoned the Canadian High Commissioner and informed him of India’s decision to expel the Canadian diplomat based in India. Also, the Ministry of External Affairs has in a strong tone asked the diplomat to leave India within the next five days.

Foreign Ministry gave information in its statement

There is a possibility of further deterioration in bilateral relations after this step. At present, bilateral relations have not been very good due to the Canadian side’s response to India’s concerns over the activities of pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil. The Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that Canadian Ambassador Cameron McKay was summoned today. Also, the concerned diplomat has been asked to leave India within five days.

After Trudeau spoke in the Canadian Parliament on the murder of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie announced the expulsion of the Indian diplomat. According to media reports, Jolie’s office later identified the officer as Pawan Kumar Rai, head of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in Canada.
