BRICS Summit: The three-day event of BRICS countries is being organized in Johannesburg. This group includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In this, the agenda of expansion of BRICS group was also discussed. Meanwhile, South African President and BRICS Chair Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will also be included in BRICS. They will become members of the BRICS grouping from January 1, 2024.

PM supported

PM Modi said that India has always believed that with the addition of new members, BRICS will become stronger as an organization and this will give new momentum to our common efforts. This will also strengthen the faith of many countries in the multipolar world order. Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that it would be easier to cooperate with the new BRICS members. He said that India has very deep and historical relations with the new BRICS members. Also, the PM said that a new dimension will be added to bilateral cooperation as well.

China had proposed to include Pakistan as well

China had also pressurized other countries to include Pakistan in the BRICS alliance. In this, he said that the BRICS alliance should adopt an expanded membership, so that more developing countries can also be included in it. India had opposed the inclusion of Pakistan in the BRICS alliance.
