Noida: Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar district have banned public gatherings under Section 144 of the CrPC. Also, ordered that no unauthorized religious activity, such as namaz, worship or procession, shall be carried out in public places and roads in Noida and Greater Noida. For all these activities, it is necessary to take the permission of the police officers. Failure to do so will result in appropriate action.

According to media reports, as per the order issued by the Gautam Buddh Nagar district police, permission will have to be obtained from the commissioner of police or additional commissioner of police or deputy commissioners of police concerned for the three zones of the district for organizing such activities. Additional DCP (Law and Order) Hirdesh Katheria said in the order that the restrictions under section 144 of CrPC will come into effect from July 20 and remain in force for 15 days till August 3. On behalf of the police, it was said that these restrictions have been imposed in view of the upcoming Muharram, a sports event in which players from foreign countries will participate, farmers’ protests and during this time many competitive examinations are also to be held in the district.

The order passed by the police said that there will be a complete ban on flying drones over government offices or within a radius of one kilometer and for using drones for photography or video recording at other places. It is very important to take permission from the police. It was also said on behalf of the police that no religious event will be organized at any disputed site where there is no practice of worship or prayer. Also, he said that one should not instigate any other person to do the same.
