UP News:Five Kanwariyas died after coming in contact with a high tension overhead wire in Bhawanpur area of Meerut. Apart from this, five others have been injured, out of which the condition of two remains critical. Police reached the spot on information, admitted the injured to the hospital and are probing the matter. At the same time, the villagers protested against the electricity department and demanded action.
According to information, the incident took place when the Kanwariyas were returning from Haridwar with Gangajal. A speaker of his vehicle came in contact with a high-tension overhead wire in Bhawanpur area. Due to which five Kanwariyas got electrocuted and died. Many other people who were on the Kanwar Yatra were injured in this incident.
Police gave information
Police said that five more kanwarias were injured, out of which the condition of two is critical. He is undergoing treatment at local hospitals. According to the police, the Kanwariyas were returning home with Ganga water, when the incident took place around 500 meters away from the village at around 8.15 pm. On getting the information, the villagers reached the spot and stopped the supply by calling the power house. After this he protested. The villagers have demanded strict action against the officials of the Electricity Department.
