Rajasthan: Those protesting by keeping dead bodies in public places in Rajasthan will now face severe punishment. Along with the relatives of the deceased, the leaders will also be punished. The Ashok Gehlot government has passed a bill for this in the assembly on Thursday. It provides that if a person uses the body of a deceased person for protest, he can be punished for six months and the next of kin who allows the dead body to be used for protest can be punished for two years.

The dead body will have to be cremated on time

According to this bill, the dead body of the deceased will have to be cremated on time. The last rites can be delayed only when relatives are coming from outside the house or postmortem has to be done. If a person dies and his relatives refuse to take possession of his dead body, then a provision has been made for one year’s imprisonment as well as fine.

Government will create digital data bank of unclaimed dead bodies

Unclaimed dead bodies have to be kept in deep freezer. It is being told that the state government will create a district-wise digital data bank of unclaimed dead bodies. Meanwhile, during the debate, BJP MLAs compared it to the Meesa law of Emergency. Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore said that the government has brought a law to suppress the voice. It won’t be tolerated.

On this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, while rejecting the objections of the opposition, said that the incidents of holding dead bodies and demanding jobs and money are continuously increasing in the state. There have been 306 incidents from 2019 to 2023. If this law had not come, this figure would have increased further.
