The Rajasthan government has made a big announcement for those who do inter-caste marriages. CM Ashok Gehlot’s government will now give an incentive of Rs 10 lakh for inter-caste marriage in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the proposal to increase the incentive amount on inter-caste marriages under the Dr. Savita Ben Ambedkar scheme. Prior to this proposal only an amount of Rs 5 lakh was given.
Rs 10 lakh for inter-caste marriage couple
Rs 10 lakh will be given to inter-caste marriage couples, out of this amount Rs 5 lakh will be made into FD for 8 years and the remaining Rs 5 lakh will be deposited in the joint bank account of bride and groom. This decision has come into effect from Thursday.
Inter Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme
In Rajasthan, the Social Justice and Empowerment Department started this scheme in 2006. Earlier, under this scheme, 50 thousand rupees were given to the newly married couple. After this, in April 2013, the amount was increased to Rs 5 lakh. 75 percent of the cost of this scheme is borne by the state government and 25 percent by the central government.
Some conditions and rules have been made in this scheme. According to the conditions of this scheme, either the boy or the girl should belong to the scheduled caste and also his age should not be more than 35 years. Along with this, a special thing is included in this that he should not be in any kind of criminal case.

The government is constantly trying to eliminate caste discrimination from the Indian society and to give people their rights. The Government of Rajasthan has also announced to give this amount to take forward this campaign. Today people are afraid to do inter-caste marriages. This step has been taken to bring a change in the thinking of the society and to lead a life with dignity by giving financial assistance to the newly married couple.
