Vaibhav Gehlot FEMA Case: Amidst the election riots in Rajasthan, on one side the ruling Congress and BJP have entered the electoral fray against each other. On the other hand, Vaibhav Gehlot, son of state CM Ashok Gehlot, will be interrogated by Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials today i.e. on Monday. For this, Vaibhav Gehlot has reached ED office in Delhi. The investigating agency had earlier summoned him on Friday but then the time of appearance was extended to October 30.

Two groups named Tritons Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd and Wardha Enterprises Pvt Ltd associated with Rajasthan Tourism were accused of amassing disproportionate assets through money laundering. Vaibhav Gehlot’s company is accused of sending Rs 100 crore to Mauritius through shell companies. In June, Rajya Sabha MP Kirodilal Meena had filed a complaint in this matter in ED. He had accused Vaibhav Gehlot of investing about Rs 100 crore in Hotel Fairmount on behalf of Mauritius Shell Company.

Ratan Kant Sharma’s alleged links with Vaibhav Gehlot are under the scanner of the ED and the agency is expected to record his statement and interrogate him under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). He has previously been Vaibhav Gehlot’s business partner in a car rental company. After these searches, ED also recovered unaccounted cash worth Rs 1.2 crore. According to media reports, CM Gehlot’s son had said that ED had issued summons 12 years ago also. At that time also I had fully cooperated in the ED investigation and this time also I will fully cooperate.

Congress criticized the Center over the ED action against its leaders in Rajasthan and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking the help of investigating agencies to contest the elections and said that people will give a befitting reply to the BJP.
