Punjab Winter Session: The cabinet of Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab today on Monday recommended to Governor Banwarilal Purohit to convene a two-day winter session of the assembly on November 28 and 29. This decision has been taken in the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh. Let us tell you that after the order given by the Supreme Court on November 10, the decision to call this assembly session has been taken.

Supreme Court reprimanded the Governor

In fact, Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit had called the assembly called by the Punjab government on June 19-20 as illegal. Regarding which the Punjab Government had challenged in the Supreme Court. After this, the Supreme Court had reprimanded the Governor in the matter. However, now the Punjab government has recommended seeking approval from the Governor. The assembly session will begin on November 28 with tributes to the deceased. The agenda of work in the two-day session will be taken up by the Business Advisory Committee soon.

Let us tell you that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had approved the process of permanently extending the fourth session of the Assembly about 5 days ago. After this, the meeting called on 20-21 October was postponed indefinitely.

‘There has been a long standing tussle between CM Mann and the Governor’

Obviously there is a tussle going on between CM Bhagwant Mann and Governor Purohit for a long time. This thing is not hidden from anyone. In fact, the Governor did not sign the bills passed in the Assembly, after which the distance between the CM and the Governor kept increasing. After this, CM Mann accused the Governor of stalling the bills and asked the Speaker to adjourn the Assembly indefinitely. At the same time, when the matter reached the Supreme Court, the court reprimanded the Governor and said that you are playing with fire. Democracy truly runs in the hands of the Chief Minister and the Governor. However, after the rebuke of the Supreme Court, it is now believed that the two-day assembly session can start on 28 and 29 November.
