Mahabir Godara\Sirsa. This time, the Agriculture Department is making comprehensive arrangements to deal with the losses caused by stubble burning. To protect the safe environment and land, a plan has been prepared on how farmers can get economic benefits from stubble instead of burning it. For this, the Agriculture Department has signed contracts with the factories making various products from stubble in Rajasthan and Punjab of Sirsa district. Under this scheme, farmers will not have to burn stubble, but will also get financial benefits, and the crop losses in Rajasthan will also be compensated. Cow shelters will also not have to face shortage of straw.

It is noteworthy that paddy has been sown in 2 lakh 64 thousand acres in Sirsa district. According to the estimates of the Agriculture Department, this time around 22-23 lakh quintals of bales will be produced in Sirsa district which the farmers will be able to sell instead of burning. For this, the Agriculture Department is also taking the help of Deloitte India Company, which will take the land on lease for 6 months at its own expense and make it available to the agencies. Apart from Punjab and Rajasthan, stubble will be purchased at the rate of Rs 165 per quintal in these factories of Mandi Kalanwali of the district.

Bales of stubble from Sirsa district will go to BCL and Channu of Bathinda in Punjab and Sanjok Company of Sangaria in Rajasthan. Apart from this, bales can also be sold in Malwa Green Fuel of Kalanwali. Different targets have been given to these companies which will purchase stubble from different areas of Sirsa district. Not only this, the department has also tried to provide employment to people through stubble. Under this, farmers will collect and make Toori and send it to the cowsheds of Rajasthan, which will also benefit them financially, while the shortage of Toori in the cowsheds will also be fulfilled. For this, the department has set up collection centers in Mallekan, Kumthala, Budhimedi, Sikandarpur, Farwai and Kasankheda villages, where agencies and big farmers will collect the stubble and send it forward in the form of bales and straw. Private company Deloitte is also supporting the Agriculture Department to ensure that there is no land related problem. The company will provide assistance of Rs 40 thousand per acre to the farmer for 6 months.

11 red zones, 56 yellow zones declared in 267 villages

Among the paddy producing villages in Sirsa district, 11 villages have been included in the Red Zone while 56 have been included in the Yellow Zone. The administration has a special eye on them. To ensure that stubble is not burnt, a committee has been formed from village level to block and tehsil level, which will constantly keep an eye on it. According to Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Deputy Director of the Agriculture Department, the department has provided 3300 super seeders to the farmers so that the farmers can sow wheat instead of burning the stubble along with the waste. Apart from this, 47 balers have also been made available from which bales can be made and sold in factories. He said that farmers should earn economic benefits by taking maximum advantage of the schemes run by the government. He also appealed to the farmers to preserve the fertility of the land by making bales instead of burning the stubble.
