Bhopal. Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh has informed that the financial powers of Mayor, Municipal Commissioner, Mayor-in-Council and Municipal Corporation have been increased. Along with this, the financial powers of the presidents of other urban bodies, chief municipal officers and urban bodies have also been increased.

Will have financial powers up to Rs 5 crore

The municipal commissioner will now have financial powers up to Rs 5 crore in a city with a population of more than 5 lakh and up to Rs 1 crore in a city with a population of up to 5 lakh. The mayor will have financial powers ranging from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore in a city with a population of more than five lakhs and Rs one crore to Rs 5 crore in a city with a population of up to five lakhs. 10 crores to 20 crores to Mayor-in-Council in a city with a population of more than 5 lakhs and Rs. 5 crores to 10 crores in a city with a population of up to 5 lakhs and Rs. 20 crores to a corporation in a city with a population of more than 5 lakhs Has given financial powers of more than 10 crores in the city of population more than and up to 5 lakhs.

Up to Rs 2 lakh to Chief Municipal Council Officer, Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh to President, Rs 5 lakh to Rs 20 lakh to President in Council, Rs 20 lakh to Rs 2 crore 50 lakh to Municipal Council, Commissioner, Urban Administration and Development 2 crores to 50 lakhs to 30 crores and financial powers have been given to the state government above Rs.30 crores. The State Government may authorize the NAPA, NAPA Chief Municipal Officer or the President-in-Council to exercise the powers.
