Yamunanagar: A young resident of Govindpuri city in suspicious condition committed suicide by jumping into the western Yamuna Canal. The deceased’s relatives accused his wife and in-laws of harassing him and forcing him to commit suicide. Following a complaint from the deceased’s relatives, the police instituted proceedings against the in-laws, including his wife, and launched an investigation.

Rajat, a Govindpuri resident, reportedly set up a juice stand in front of the city hospital. Rajat had a love marriage with a girl named Nisha six months ago. Nisha is three months pregnant. It is said that Nisha wanted to go abroad and demanded 2 lakh rupees from her husband. Nisha’s parents also put pressure on Rajat in this regard. That’s why he was upset. Due to this problem, Rajat ended his life by jumping into the western Yamuna Canal near the city center. As soon as the information came in, the police and his relatives arrived at the scene. The police took the body into custody and handed it over to the relatives after the autopsy.

A case was opened against the accused

Station chief Prithvi Singh, who is investigating the case, said relatives of the deceased say Nisha’s parents threatened their son Rajat. At the same time, his wife Nisha charged him two lakh rupees to go abroad. She had left the house with her clothes, jewelry and other valuables. Because of this, Rajat was very upset. Because of this, Rajat ended his life by jumping into the canal. The head of the station, Prithvi Singh, said that based on the testimonies of the deceased’s relatives, a case had been opened against his in-laws, including his wife Nisha, and an investigation had been launched.
