Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that for the overall development of rural areas of the state, the Panchayat Development Index is being prepared by the Development and Panchayat Department so that the goal of sustainable development can be easily achieved with comprehensive development plans. The Chief Secretary chaired the meeting organized in Chandigarh on Panchayat Development Index to prepare for overall development in rural areas of the State.

The chief secretary said data for 57 services of 12 major departments will be collected to make better development plans. This Panchayat Development Index is prepared considering the development status of the local community based on social, economic parameters and index. A range of disciplinary and disciplinary indices are used, including electricity, water, roads, sanitation infrastructure, health and education services, institutions, economic and social indices including literacy and poverty rates, governance and administration, and environmental sustainability.

Kaushal said the development index will aim to identify inequalities in rural communities, achievement of sustainable development goals and measures for a better life. This includes growing poverty-free villages with livelihood opportunities, healthy villages, child-friendly panchayats, adequate water, clean and green panchayats, self-sufficient panchayats with basic infrastructure, social justice and safe panchayats, and promoting overall development with good governance and women-friendly panchayats. are given. For this purpose, a state steering committee as well as district and block steering and verification committees have been formed. These committees prepare quality data by evaluating the panchayats and also prepare and review plans at the panchayat level. In this way the data report of each panchayat is prepared.

The chief secretary said that the chairman of the district data verification team will be the deputy commissioner of the respective district and the CEO will be the secretary of the district councilor. In addition, heads of 12 additional district-level departments have been appointed as members who will work on 577 local indices. Of these, the data of 179 were verified by the ministry.

Additional Minister for Development and Panchayat Department Anil Malik said sampling was conducted to collect data from panchayats in 10 villages in the state. Soon the data of all panchayats will be collected. For this purpose, the necessary guidelines were given to the officials concerned. Further, instructions were given to collect data as soon as possible by forming state steering committees, district level committees and block level committees. He said as per the data, a separate budget will be provided to gram panchayats for village development in future.
