Sonipat: The body of a 22-year-old married woman was found hanging in the room of her house in Valmiki Basti in the city. The woman’s husband informed the Ganaur police about the incident. According to the information, police reached the spot, removed the body and sent it to Sonipat Civil Hospital for post-mortem. The relatives of the deceased woman have accused her in-laws of dowry death. Ganaur police station registered a dowry death case based on the complaint and initiated action.
In the complaint lodged with Gannaur police station, Kanta, a resident of Gurugram Hall, Sarojini Nagar, Delhi, said that her daughter Lakshmi was married to Ravi, a resident of Gannaur Valmiki Basti. After marriage, she was harassed and beaten by her husband and in-laws over dowry. It is alleged that Lakshmi’s husband also attacked her two days ago. On Tuesday, he received information that his daughter Lakshmi had committed suicide by hanging herself. Kanta claims that her daughter did not commit suicide but was murdered. Investigating officer ASI Jasbir said that based on the complaint of late Lakshmi’s mother Kanta, the police have registered a case against Ravi and her in-laws under Section 304B on the allegation of dowry death act. The accused will soon be arrested. The autopsy of the body will be carried out on Wednesday.
