Haryana: All India Congress Committee national general secretary and former Union minister Kumari Selja said that just before crop procurement began, the state’s BJP-JJP coalition government started hatching another government conspiracy to harass farmers. On the pretext that the harvest dates do not match, the state government wants to avoid purchasing the crops prepared by farmers with hard work and that is why all this conspiracy is hatched. The state government should buy every grain of its crop, regardless of whether a farmer has registered or not.

He said that due to pressure from farmers, government procurement of paddy would begin from September 25. The crop has already arrived in the markets of North Haryana. For this purpose, the farmers had registered on the Meri Fasal, Mera Byora portal in good time. Meanwhile, the state government remained inactive; it neither made preparations nor issued instructions for harvesting. Now that the time has come for crop procurement, it is alleged that the dates of more than 24 lakh acres of Kharif crop are not matching on this portal. Why hasn’t the government checked this data for so many months? If this data had been verified earlier, farmers would not have faced such problems at the last moment and could have easily brought their crops to the market and sold them. However, there are now doubts as to whether the government can start buying rice from September 25th.

He said that a case of such data mismatch had come to light even before the wheat crop was procured in April. Nevertheless, the state government has not learned a lesson from this. The excuse of data mismatch just before procurement exposes the coalition government’s vindictive attitude towards farmers. This time there are major losses in rice, millet and cotton crops. Paddy suffered greatly from the July floods and leaf roll. Pink bollworm disease in cotton ruined the harvest and hybrid millet also experienced its first bollworm outbreak. For this reason, there is a possibility of a sharp decline in the production of all three crops. The farmer will get much less harvest compared to his hard work. Nevertheless, the state government has now started to find excuses for data discrepancies. This clearly shows the government’s intention.
