Rewari: Parking at the cycle and cycle stand in the bus stand complex on Circular Road has been closed for the last two months. About three months ago, the bus parking lot was awarded through an open tender, but this time, due to the expensive parking contract, the contractor was unable to deposit the monthly rent with the street depots, so the lot has been vacant for about two months. .

Due to non-payment of parking rent by the contractor, the deposit of around Rs 4 lakh deposited by him at the time of bidding was also confiscated. Now Rewari Roadways is gearing up for a public tender to award a new contract for parking at the depot. The bus parking contract will be leased again in about a week. Due to the lack of parking regulations at the bus station for two months, chaos is spreading. People park their vehicles anywhere and drive away. Even four-wheelers are parked on the main road between the bus stand.

This time the parking contract was expensive

Street depots award contracts for bus parking spaces with a term of three years. This time the contract was awarded at a cost of Rs 1.25 lakh per month. Which was expensive according to previous contracts. Earlier, the contract was awarded for around Rs 40,000 plus 18 per cent GST. After losing the expensive contract, the contractor was unable to pay the rent and his deposit of 4 lakh rupees for four months was confiscated. A new bid will now be submitted within a week to award the parking contract.

The system is deteriorating due to parking disruptions.

Nowadays people park their vehicles haphazardly in the bus stand area as there is no parking facility at the bus stand. At these locations, vehicles can only be used intermittently to drop off and pick up passengers, but a large number of vehicles remain in the bus stand area throughout the day. Many motorists park their four-wheelers on the path and many people park their vehicles near the railway employees’ parking lot and the police station. Even some shopkeepers on the Ring Road park their vehicles on the bus stand area.

Instructions to the outpost manager

Regarding the deteriorating parking system, GM Roadways Depot has issued a notice to the Chowki Bus Station Police. The notice listed the employees’ parking spots and the vehicles parked near the police post and said that due to the parking of vehicles at these spots, the road was closed and no one could walk. He has directed the in-charge of the outpost not to allow parking of unauthorized vehicles by keeping an eye on the parking space.

The parking order will be carried out again

Construction official Shamsher Singh said his security was forfeited by termination of the contract as the contractor who took up the parking lot failed to pay the rent. Now, in about a week, there will be another tender for the award of the bus parking contract.
