Panipat: Sector 13-17 Police Station arrested the accused from Ambala in the case of cheating various persons of Rs 36 lakh in the name of arranging jobs and contracts in the railways. The accused has been identified as Sudhir, resident of Basant Vihar, tenant of Delhi Hall, Saundhapur. The police interrogate the accused.

Krishna, a resident of Sanpeda village in Sonipat district, said he works in agriculture and has two sons. A young man had introduced him to Sudhir, a resident of Basant Vihar in Delhi. Then Ram Sharan, who claimed to be working in a senior position in the railways, said that he would employ his two sons in the railways. He demanded 20 lakh rupees for this. In 2018, Sudhir called him at Hannu Sweets Corner on Panipat GT Road, filled both the boys’ railway forms and took Rs 10 lakh from him. After that, in 2019, Sudhir called him at Hannu Sweets Corner and said that both sons’ joining letters would be received after the medical examination. There, Sudhir took another 5 lakh rupees from him in the name of medical treatment. Later, Sudhir kept postponing it saying that he had work to do these days.

When he asked for his money after getting information about Sudhir’s fraud, Sudhir refused to hand over the money and threatened to kill him. On Krishna’s complaint, police registered a case against accused Sudhir for cheating in various sections in Sector 13-17 police station and initiated investigation. Inspector Vilasa Ram said that acting on a tip-off, the Sector 13-17 police station arrested the accused Sudhir from Ambala late on Wednesday evening. During the preliminary interrogation, the defendant confessed to the fraud offenses mentioned above. The police produced the accused Sudhir before the court for thorough interrogation and recovery of the cheated money. From there he was taken into police custody for 6 days.
