Panipat: Court sentences two drug smugglers to 15 years in prison

Panipat: The additional district and sessions judge court convicted two accused of drug trafficking and sentenced them to 15 years imprisonment. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh on both the perpetrators. If the fine is not paid, the perpetrators face additional prison sentences of six months.

According to details, a case was registered in Sector 13-17 police station on October 30, 2019. While giving information, Krishna, who is posted at CIA One of Panipat Police, had said that he was posted with the team at Barsat Road. They then received information that two smugglers, who were transporting a large quantity of drugs in a Delhi ‘Centro’ car, were planning to head to Uttar Pradesh via Sector 18. After this, the CIA-1 team had set up a blockade near the Nizampur Bridge. During the blockade, when a Centro car with Delhi number arrived, the team stopped the car and inspected the car. During interrogation, the driver gave his name as Israr Village Basana, Bhawan Police Station, Uttar Pradesh and the other youth who was sitting with the driver gave his name as Maniram Village Chadav, Kandhla District Shamli Police Station. During the search of the Delhi car, 58 kg (200 grams) of ganja was recovered from the car. While registering the case with the Sector 13-17 police, Krishna had said that both the accused were trying to smuggle the drug and bring the ganja leaves to Uttar Pradesh.
