Kaithal: Hotel chef commits suicide by cutting his throat in the bathroom

Kaithal: Girish Chandra, the chef of the Punjabi Tadka Hotel on Dhand Road, committed suicide by cutting his throat with a knife in the bathroom of the hotel around 9.30 am. Police took action based on the statement of the deceased’s maternal uncle Anand. Police took the body into custody and sent it for autopsy.

Girish’s relative Basant Ram said that Girish came to his house from Panuvanaula village in Almora district of Uttarakhand about a month ago. Since then he has been a bit worried. He worked in the hotel for about eight years and lived in the hotel itself. On Saturday at 9:30 a.m. I went to the upstairs toilet of the hotel to take a bath. After some time, when the deceased’s uncle went to the toilet, blood came out from under the door. The door was locked from the inside. He called other people downstairs and broke down the door. When Girish was seen there, he had died of a slit throat. The police were also informed at the same time.

The crime scene team was also on site. The body was shifted to the civil hospital. Basant told that Girish was happy but sad since his arrival from the village. They tried several times to ask him the cause of his problem, but he said nothing. Girish has three daughters. The elder daughter is eight-year-old Divya, the younger is Priya and the youngest is Mansi. Investigating officer SI Dharampal said action was taken based on the statement of late Girish Chandra’s maternal uncle Anand. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the relatives.
