Kaithal: While investigating the case of embezzling 20.56 lakh rupees by issuing a fake (sham) visa to a widow in the name of sending her to America, ASI’s team at Raghuvindra Singh of Dhand Police Station arrested husband Rakesh Kumar and wife Meera Singh, named defendant in the case. Police spokesman Pradeep Nain said that Neelam, a resident of Pabnawa village, complained that her husband had passed away and that she was living with her two sons. He had a conversation about sending his two sons Sonu and Monu abroad, instead Rakesh demanded 60 lakh rupees from him. The complainant alleged that he had donated an amount of more than 20 lakh rupees to him on different dates.
The applicant informed that residents of Rakesh, Meera Devi and Dinesh from Kamla and residents of Anil and Bharti from Indri came to their house and said that their boys’ visas had been applied for. The defendant sent him tickets and visas home, but when he had them checked, they turned out to be fake. In this way, the defendants neither sent their sons abroad nor returned the money. Concerning this, a case has been registered in different sections in Thana Dhand. The spokesman said that the female defendant Meera was remanded in custody by order of the court and that the Honorable Court requested the defendant Rakesh to be held in custody for three days for full questioning and recovery.
