Kaithal: Two accused beat the team that stopped farmers from burning crop residue and threatened to kill them. The accused took away the agricultural supervisor’s turban and also obstructed government activities. Following a complaint from the agriculture inspector, the police lodged a case against the accused and initiated an investigation.

Gurjit Singh, who works as an agriculture superintendent in the Cheeka agriculture department, complained at Siwan police station that on October 15, he received information that farmers Vinod Kumar and Mukesh Kumar had taken land under contract in Bhuna village and in it Rice fields would have been planted. Now both of them have burned the leftover crops in the fields. When he along with the village level committee inspected the site, arson was found in the remains of about 9 to 10 hectares. When he tried to convince farmers Vinod Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, they were beaten up by the accused along with others. Also threatened to kill. The defendant took off his turban and spoke out against religion. In doing so, the defendant violated his government duty and threatened to kill him. Investigating officer Praveen Kumar said that the police have registered a case against the accused and have initiated an investigation.
