Jakhal/Fatehabad: Families of BPL cardholders who received free ration from the government are now caught up in e-KYC again. Since cardholders’ thumb is not certified at the food depot operator’s ATMs, they have to face the hassle of performing e-KYC again to receive food from the government food depot. For this, laborers and daily wage earners have to walk to the Aadhaar center located in the sub-tehsil office. Here they have to stand in queues for hours to get their Aadhaar updated. For this reason, poor BPL families seem to have major problems.

Families who hold BPL ration cards said that the month is about to end but their ration is stuck at the food vending machines due to lack of thumb authentication. BPL beneficiaries said that around three months ago, the list of BPL ration cards of people was released systematically by the government and the list of ration cards was prepared on the basis of family ID and Aadhaar membership number, but now this has happened again out a list of people’s BPL ration cards. To complete the KYC of the members, one has to make trips to the Aadhaar center. To carry out e-KYC, BPL-beneficiary families had to take their children on leave from school on Tuesday and queue up at the Aadhaar center at the sub-tehsil office to update their Aadhaar. Meanwhile, these BPL families said that the programs run by the government for poor families were not being implemented locally. To provide relief to BPL ration card holders, the government is trying to harass them by introducing new rules. Here they are sent by the ration depot owner. This causes them to suffer unnecessarily. He demanded that the government implement the relief given to it quickly and properly.

BPL families presented their problems

Preeto, Chandu, Tarsem, Sandeep, Gudiya Ram and Hari Singh etc., who came with their children to get KYC of Aadhaar card created in Jakhal Sub-Tehsil, said that their BPL card was created earlier with much difficulty became. He said that he works hard to support his family. In the first list, his ration card was not issued because his income was higher than what was shown in the family certificate. Later, after walking around a lot, adjusting his income by visiting camps etc., he got the BPL ration card prepared and after that a new order has now been issued to update the Aadhaar card with KYC. After taking his children on leave from school, he has come here to conduct a KYC experience at the Aadhaar center so that they can get rations.

What do the officials say?

Food and Supplies Commissioner Jakhal Rakesh Kumar said senior officials have sent instructions to people to update their KYC with Aadhaar. Based on this, all food depot holders have been directed to update the KYC of all ration cards in the food depot itself. There is no need to send them elsewhere. If someone does this, action will be taken against them.
