Gurugram: Scamming lakhs by selling fake gold biscuits

Gurugram: Jewelers were scammed out of five and a half lakh rupees by selling counterfeit gold biscuits in Sector 65 Police Station area. The jewelry showroom employee’s brother-in-law ended the incident of selling silver biscuits by plating them in gold. Following the showroom manager’s complaint, the police took up a case and launched an investigation.

Kamal Bhola, a resident of Sector 27, said that he is the manager of Ganpatraj Gold’s showroom at Paras Trinity Mall, Sector 63. On June 26, a young man named Sahil walked into his showroom. He talked about selling 100 grams of gold biscuits. He showed a company’s cookie. Gold expert Harsh Mishra, present in the showroom, then checked with a carat meter and found the biscuit to be correct. After taking Sahil’s Aadhaar card and other information, he checked the OTP on his mobile number and gave him five and a half lakh rupees. It is claimed that chemical testing of the biscuit later revealed that the biscuit was made of silver and covered with a layer of gold.

He then called Sahil, who found it turned off. When I reached the address given on the Aadhaar card, it was discovered that this address was wrong. The photo on the Aadhaar card was also very old. Upon investigation, the Aadhaar card was found to belong to Bhiwani. At the same time, he suspected Saurabh Soni, an employee in his showroom, whose sister had married in Bhiwani. On this he checked the Instagram ID and found the photo of the accused Sahil. Afterwards, they learned that Sahil’s real name was Rahul Soni, Saurabh Soni’s brother-in-law. Upon interrogation, Saurabh revealed the entire incident. He then filed a complaint with the police. The police are investigating the matter.
