Haryana: Angry Haryana premier Manohar Lal also hit back at both leaders for raising allegations against Delhi premier Arvind Kejriwal over flooding and rainwater. He assembled a high-level team headed by the EIC (Engineer in Chief) and sent it to Delhi to investigate if the ITO gate was opened. The team is busy investigating the whole gate not opening issue and then preparing a report for Delhi CM to respond to.
Following the instructions of Prime Minister Manoharlal, the officials sitting in the CMO had ordered the Irrigation Board’s EIC (Chief Engineer) to investigate the whole matter with a team in Delhi. A team of technical experts led by Dr. Satbir Kadian will examine the locked gate of the ITO Barrage in Delhi. The team that reached the barrage in the morning began investigating, with Commander Sanjay Singh and Interior Ministry official Rajendra Piplania present on behalf of the Navy. When asked, the officials said that 30 gates were open so far. Two gates remain to be opened with the help of the Navy.
Manoharlal retaliated for charges of drowning Delhi
Prime Minister Manohar Lal has expressed great anger at the Haryana government’s allegations of blaming Haryana for the sinking of Delhi. He gave a sneering advice saying that Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann should not make such statements as they hold responsible and constitutional offices. On the release of excess water from the Hathini Kund dam, he said such claims are completely absurd. If that were the case, how bad would the damage be in our area?
Attack on Punjab CM man
Prime Minister Manohar Lal said that if the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal had been built, Punjab would not have suffered heavy casualties from rain and flooding. In the case of the SYL channel, Punjab would hardly have suffered. The excess rainwater from Punjab flowed into the SYL in Haryana which was forcibly closed. The result of this is that a large area of Ambala, Kurukshetra has been inundated. These two districts are only flooded because of the incomplete SYL channel. But Haryana did not rhetorically blame Punjab in any way. Responding to statements made by politicians in connection with the rains and floods, he reiterated that the series of accusations and counter-accusations begun with the disaster is not at all in the interests of humanity, the state and the country. He said that the area of Haryana along the Yamuna appears to be larger than that of Delhi. So they should have so much understanding and think before defaming Haryana.
