The Reservation Amendment Bill was passed unanimously in the Bihar Assembly on Thursday. Bihar Cabinet had announced to increase the quota for SC, ST, Other Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) from the existing 50 percent to a total of 65 percent. Which has now been passed.
According to the information, currently the reservation limit in Bihar is 50% and EWS used to get 10% reservation apart from this. Now if the proposal of Nitish government is passed, the limit of 50% has been broken. Now total 65 percent reservation will be available in Bihar. Apart from this, 10% reservation of EWS will remain separate. Based on the findings of the survey, CM Nitish Kumar has increased the reservation of OBC and EBS from 30 percent to 43 percent, for Scheduled Caste (SC) from 16 percent to 20 percent and 2 percent Was recommended to do. Scheduled Tribe (ST) by 1 percent. The quota for EWS will remain the same as the existing 10 percent.
The caste survey report showed that of the state’s total population of 13.07 crore, the share of OBCs (27.13 per cent) and Extremely Backward Class sub-groups (36 per cent) is 63 per cent, while SCs and STs together constitute a little more than 21 per cent. cent.
According to the report tabled in the Assembly by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, there are about 2.97 crore families in the state, of which more than 94 lakh (34.13 per cent) live on a monthly income of Rs 6,000 or less.
