Delhi: Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) councilors will now get Rs 25,000 instead of Rs 300 as allowance for House and Standing Committee meetings. After the end of the House meeting, Mayor of the Corporation Dr. Shaili Oberoi gave this information in a press conference.

During this, he told that in the meeting there was a good discussion on the cleanliness system, parks of Horticulture Department, stray animals, betterment of schools, because the opposition party BJP did not have councilors in the House meeting. The Mayor said that if there were BJP councilors, the meeting would not have lasted more than ten to fifteen minutes because BJP councilors create ruckus.

The Mayor gave information about the Door to Step scheme and regarding the meeting allowance given to the councilors, said that till now no salary is given to the corporation councilors. Councilors were being given sitting allowance of only Rs 300, but now it has been increased to Rs 25,000 because councilors have a lot of expenses.
