New Delhi: The fake ACP Rathore of the Crime Branch, who duped senior citizens by implicating them in a sextortion racket, has been arrested. The real name of this thug who was caught by the team of Shahdara district is Barkat Khan s/o Khurshid, resident of village-Bajhedi, police station-Govindgarh, Mewat, district Alwar Rajasthan (Rajasthan). The accused used to extort money from the victims by showing them nude videos of the girls through WhatsApp, after screen recording them and threatening to make them viral on social media. Last days, in the same way, he had cheated a victim of Rs 12.80 lakh. This is the 15th arrest from Mewat region in sextortion cases.
According to the police, a case of cheating was registered on July 18 on the complaint of a senior citizen. The complainant had alleged that he had received obscene video calls from an unknown WhatsApp number. The girl took a screenshot with the face of the complainant and after some time she got a call from two other numbers. He introduced himself from the Cyber Crime Branch. A person called himself ACP Rathore.
He told that the screen shot is going to go viral. To stop the victim, he was threatened to pay a huge amount, otherwise the video would soon go viral and he would be arrested. Further, the said person sent him a hanging picture of a girl and said that the said girl was dead. The thugs also sent a police warrant to the complainant on his WhatsApp. The complainant had sent Rs 12 lakh 80 thousand to the bank account provided by the thugs.

During investigation, police found out with the help of IMEI number that one SIM was active in village-Bajhedi, PS Govindgarh, Mewat district-Alwar Rajasthan area. On the morning of 20 August, IO SI Shweta Sharma along with other police personnel reported at the Govindgarh police station and after a raid along with local police personnel, the accused Barkat Khan alias Barkat Mistry was arrested. Some nude WhatsApp video calling screen shots were present in her mobile phone. A photo of an army jawan was found on the DP of the accused’s WhatsApp. On investigation, on the basis of calls on mobile phone numbers, a total of five complaints were found to be linked to this case and a total of six complaints were found to be linked to the said bank accounts.
