Delhi: Officer of Women and Child Development Department accused of sexual harassment, case filed by teenager

New Delhi: A deputy director of the Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government has come to light for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl several times and impregnating her. A case has been registered regarding this in Burari police station. The police gave this information on Sunday. DCP Sagar Singh Kalsi said that the officer’s wife has also been made an accused in the case for giving medicines to the teenager to cause her to have an abortion.

As per information, the accused allegedly sexually assaulted his friend’s daughter several times between November 2020 and January 2021. The matter came to light when the class 12 student narrated the incident to the counselor at a hospital recently, the police officer said. She was admitted to the hospital after feeling faint.

The girl told that since the death of her father on October 1, 2020, she was living with the accused and his family at their house. The girl’s father was in a government job. The accused started sexually assaulting the teenager shortly after. When the victim became pregnant, she informed the accused’s wife, who later ordered abortion medicines from the son and gave the teenager.

The teenager returned home with her mother in January 2021. She was admitted to St Stephen’s Hospital by her mother in August this year after she felt panic, where the victim narrated the entire incident during a counseling session. Later, the hospital informed the Burari police and a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act, police said. According to the police, the statement of the girl is yet to be recorded before a magistrate.
