Gandai Pandariya- Like every year, the bridge connecting Durg, Raipur and Bhilai is in spate this year due to the rains in Gandai Pandariya of Khairagarh for the last few days. Commuters are facing trouble due to heavy rains over the bridge since two days. People have to go via Manikchauri. Buses are not able to reach at their scheduled time due to traveling several kilometers inside the village. Along with this, people passing through this road for the first time are also seen wandering. Barrigates have been installed on both sides of the river by the local administration. If this rain continues continuously, then this bridge may remain closed for several days.
Villagers tired of demanding repair of dilapidated bridge
According to the information, this Daniya bridge built during the British rule has now become dilapidated. The villagers are tired of demanding a new and bigger bridge in view of the problems caused by water coming over the bridge during light rains. Despite this, the new bridge is not being constructed till now. Leaders and officers go to Raipur through this bridge. But the condition of the bridge is not being rectified till now. Foreign tourists also pass through here. Many foreigners come towards Raipur airport through this route. In the past too, major accidents have happened due to excess water in the bridge. On the other hand, regarding this matter, Gandai police station in-charge Anil Sharma says that due to water in Daniya bridge for the last two days, this route is closed. Two police staff and village Kotwar have been deployed to prevent people from crossing the bridge which is in spate. Full care is taken that people should not cross the bridge at all until the water in the river subsides. But no one speaks to fix the bridge. Even if the villagers make demands, no one listens to them.
