News2News.in News, Raipur:School sanitation workers from across the state took out a rally on Saturday to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence from the Tuta protest site with a two-point demand. The protesters crossed the barricade of the main gate of the protest site and reached the main road from Abhanpur to Raipur. Due to this, road traffic was disrupted for some time. The police administration stopped the agitators from moving forward by placing barricades, during which there was a minor scuffle between the protesters and the police personnel.

43 thousand school sanitation workers across the state are on an indefinite strike demanding full-time implementation of part-time school sanitation workers and payment of salaries at collector rates. The striking school sanitation workers took out a rally in the afternoon to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence from the protest site in Tuta regarding their pending demands. The police administration also made strict arrangements to stop the protesters. During this time, the protesters crossed the barricades at two places and reached the main road from Abhanpur to Raipur and started protesting on the road itself. ADM of Abhanpur reached the spot to listen to the agitators. While giving advice to the striking sanitation workers, he appealed not to disrupt the road traffic.

The protesting employees said that they would not return home without expressing their views to the Chief Minister. Abhanpur ADM assured him to meet the Chief Minister within three days. After his written assurance, the agitators who were blocking the road returned. Officials of the School Safai Karmachari Sangh say that if positive initiative is not taken after meeting the Chief Minister within 3 days, then they will go on foot march from all the district divisions of the state and take a pledge in the capital on October 2.
