The police administration had received information through their own confidential information system that, in a sarcasm on Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel’s announcement of purchase of paddy at 20 quintals per acre on Friday, MLA Chandrakar’s statement was surrounded by his Raipur-Kurud residence by terming it as anti-farmer. After preparing a strategy, district and block level Kisan Congress leaders and workers were directed to assemble at 2 pm.
For this reason, the district police force was deployed for security at Chandrakar’s residence in Ward 05 Kurud. The BJP had also come to know about the said gherao, in response to which some MLA supporters were standing in Chandrakar’s residence with their preparations. But even after it was late in the evening, not a single Congressman came to gherao or protest. There was a discussion in the city and the region about this, that it is not only difficult, but also impossible to surround Kurud’s favorite and the tallest leader of the state. Perhaps that’s why Congressmen pulled back their steps.
