Raipur. The operators running hotels and clubs regarding Christmas and New Year have not yet written a letter from the police for permission to organize events. Despite this, the police has already started preparations to stop the ruckus under the guise of celebrations in the New Year. The SSP office has sought information from the police of Outer police station area Mandirhasaud, Rakhi, Abhanpur, Dharsiwan and other police stations of urban area including Telibandha Rajendra Nagar, Assembly, about the hotels and clubs where parties are organized for the New Year.

According to ASP City Lakhan Patle, permission will be given to organize programs in the new year as per rules. Along with this, action will be taken against the people creating ruckus. According to the police officer, drivers will be checked by traffic and police personnel at the entry points of the city. Action will be taken against those who drink and drive. A final decision has not yet been taken on how much force will be deployed in the new year. A decision on this will be taken after December 25.

Application based on the attitude of the administration

A hotel business manager, on the condition of anonymity, said that in the past, due to relaxation in rules, operators of hotels, bars and clubs used to prepare for the New Year a month in advance. Also, they used to apply for permission in advance to organize the program. At present, considering the strictness of the administration, hotel, restaurant and club operators will decide to organize the party based on the attitude of the administration in organizing events in the new year.

The last day of the year is not a religious or cultural festival.

The committee has written to the Chief Secretary that under the Noise (Regulation and Control) Rules, this type of permission can be given only for cultural programs, religious or any festival. The number and details of relaxation days are to be notified in advance to the State Government as per the rules. Generally, this type of relaxation should be notified as soon as the New Year begins or before it begins and not suddenly a day before. The committee has said that under Indian traditions, December 31 neither falls in the category of any religious, cultural nor any festival.

Citizen Struggle Committee wrote a letter to the Secretary

Regarding the events to be held in the New Year, the Citizen Struggle Committee has written a letter to the Chief Secretary demanding that on December 30 last year, immediate permission was given to use the loudspeaker for the entire state. Such permission should not be given this year. The committee has argued that playing loudspeakers late at night causes unbearable noise pollution. Nagarik Sangharsh Samiti has mentioned in the letter written to the Chief Secretary that last year due to organizing the program till late night, the law and order situation had deteriorated along with spreading of noise pollution.
