Bhojraj Sahu / Dhamtari. Villagers of about 110 villages in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district gheraoed the collectorate on Monday with their 7-point demands. The villagers continued to protest outside the collectorate premises in 37 degree temperature. The villagers were adamant in giving a memorandum to the collector. They were waiting for him for about 3 hours, but had to return without submitting the memorandum. After not being able to meet the Collector, the resentment increased among the villagers. After this the villagers went out to block NH 30 but the police stopped the villagers on the way. During this, there was a scuffle between the police and the protesters. Then the villagers sat on a dharna in the road. Due to this, there was a jam in Rudri Road. A heavy police force was also deployed here.

At the same time, in view of the demonstration of the villagers, a large number of police forces were deployed on the spot. Deputy Collector, SDM and Tehsildar were also present on the spot. On behalf of the administration, the Joint Collector and SDM tried to convince. Watch the video-

7 point demand of villagers

1. Caste land should be registered on behalf of the revenue officers after getting the settlement and rectification done in the Bhuiyan portal of the department.

2. The provision of nomination of caste land by brother distribution should be provided with the loan book (patta) of the Revenue Department.

3. Farmers of converted revenue villages should be provided facilities like other villages.

4. The farmers of the sanctuary area should be given full rights to collect (buy and sell) minor forest produce.

5. Provision should be made for compensation of Rs 40,000 per acre on the loss of crops by elephants.

6. A provision of compensation of Rs 50 lakh should be made for the loss of life on behalf of elephants.

7. Patels of converted revenue villages should be given honorarium given by the government. Watch the video-
