Corona New Variant: Corona sounds again, Health Department orders to increase investigation, samples will be sent to AIIMS if found positive

Raipur. The year 2023 is about to end and everyone is now waiting for the new year. The new variant of Corona has again increased the concern. But just before the New Year celebrations, an alert has been issued in Chhattisgarh regarding the new variant JN.1. According to the new guidelines issued by the Health Department, now Covid testing will be increased in all the districts. Also, samples will be sent to Raipur AIIMS, where it will be seen whether the new variant of Covid is spreading in the state. Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Renu G Pillay, has issued orders to all the collectors of Chhattisgarh. It is written in the government order that the situation of Corona in Chhattisgarh is currently under control. Cases of new variants have been reported in Kerala. Because of this, the scope of investigation will be increased in Chhattisgarh.

The Health Department has issued orders to all collectors saying that the Covid-19 infection is under control. But it is important to keep an eye on its constantly changing variants. Corona cases have increased in some states of the country including Kerala. However, the new variant has not been identified in Chhattisgarh. But there is a need to be cautious at the district level.

Samples should be sent to Raipur AIIMS for genome sequencing test.

In view of the New Year and festivals, the availability of medicines in all district hospitals and community health centers should be checked to prevent Covid infection. Mock drills should be conducted to deal with Corona related cases. Adequate number of Covid tests should be conducted in every district after checking all the equipment. At least 100 tests should be conducted every day. If possible, all should be done by RT-PCR method. If found Covid positive, its samples were sent to Raipur AIIMS for genome sequencing test so that the new variant can be identified.
