Along with this, they are also becoming financially strong. On the one hand, where people are moving towards economic self-reliance by selling cow dung, on the other hand, Gothans have shown the way for rural women to gain economic strength by doing more than one work at the same time through the group. The dream of village self-reliance is coming true from the Gothans. Due to this, farmers and cattle herders are now moving forward on the path of prosperity.
The village Tarragondi is situated at the end of Dhamtari district, which has rich and historical importance. Here also the light of Godhan Nyaya Yojana is burning. There are more than 100 cattle herders in the village, whose hands are stained with cow dung and are moving towards economic self-reliance by selling cow dung. This scheme, which is proving to be a boon for agricultural laborers, farmers and herdsmen, has returned a smile to the faces of cattle herders. At the same time, big relief has been given to the people doing small scale business.

In fact, Sheela Jain, a woman cattle rearer resident of Tarragondi village of Kurud development block, is earning direct profit by selling cow dung. The main occupation of Mrs. Jain and her family is the grocery business. Due to having a shop in the village, the income is less, due to which the family is maintained, but there was always a lack of money for family responsibilities or for doing big works. Inspired by the ideology of giving importance to virtue, satvik, vegetarian and animal husbandry, Sheela initially reared two cattle. With this, his family’s needs started being fulfilled, along with the idea of selling milk, butter, butter, ghee also came to mind. For this purpose, the number of cattle was increased on their behalf. This increased the income, but was unable to construct a shelter (kotha) to keep the cattle.

Meanwhile, under the Godhan Nyay Yojana of the state government, cow dung was started selling in the Gothan of the village. Mrs. Jain also started selling cow dung in Gothan like other cattle rearers. He has sold 270 quintals of 30 kg cow dung since the inception of the scheme, which has earned him a net profit of Rs 54,600. Sheela used the amount received to build a pucca shelter (kotha) for the animals. Sheela Jain said that the dung which was earlier thrown elsewhere, now earning thousands of rupees by joining the government’s ambitious Godhan Nyaya Yojana is like a dream come true. On the other hand, getting money from cow dung and selling cow dung has now become a pucca kotha, the health of the animals is good and milk production has increased. On the other hand, women of self-help groups in Gothan are moving towards becoming socially and economically empowered. Godhan Nyaya Yojana where he got employment in preparing vermicompost. At the same time, additional income is also being generated from the sale of cow dung. Using the amount received from this scheme, women are now fulfilling many minor needs along with the schooling of their children. The women of the group are very happy to get employment near home. In true sense, the scheme has filled the colors of happiness in their lives.

Adarsh Gothan has been built in village Achota, 10 km away from the district headquarter Dhamtari. Here women self-help groups are associated with economic activities. Women are doing the work of garment sewing unit, handloom unit, organic manure, animal husbandry, fish farming and vegetable production here. A total of 3018 quintals of cow dung has been purchased from the construction of Gothan till May 2023. Where 860 quintal vermi compost has been produced so far by Pragati women self-help group. Out of this, 687 quintal vermi compost was sold. This earned the group about Rs 2 lakh 24 thousand. Apart from this, women of Pragati Mahila Self Help Group are doing poultry farming, earthworm production, vegetable production and mushroom production in Adarsh Gothan Achota. The women of the group have earned a profit of Rs 5 thousand 100 from earthworm production, Rs 10 thousand 500 from poultry farming, Rs 2 thousand 500 from vegetable production and Rs 4 thousand 120 from mushroom production.
