On the instructions of the SSP, more than a hundred police personnel were deployed in the early hours of Saturday on the instructions of the SSP after receiving information about people involved in criminal activities in BSUP Colony and Atal Awas in different police station areas of the capital. A team of officers and personnel went out for surprise investigation. During this time, the police interrogated the people living in BSUP Colony and Atal Awas in a dozen police station areas of the district and collected information about the people coming from outside.

Under the leadership of senior gazetted police officers, different police teams reached Civil Lines, Purani Basti, Golbazar, Maudhapara, Saraswati Nagar, Azad Chowk, Telibandha, Rakhi, Tikrapara, DD Nagar police station area to raid Atal Awas and BYUSP Colony. When the police reached the colonies of these places, they found people sleeping. Police woke up people and interrogated them and obtained information about their work. Also asked them to show their identity card.

Police is preparing data

During the investigation, the police prepared the data of the people living in these colonies, noted down their names, addresses, mobile numbers and identity cards and took their signatures in the register. Along with this, the police instructed people to give information about the people living on rent through loud hailer.

I don’t think investigation has been done yet

Out of all the investigation actions taken in BSUP Colony and Atal Awas in the last six months, the police has not reached Mana even once to investigate. According to local residents, a large number of people from other states are coming and living in Mana on rent. Most of the people who come and live on rent work as street vendors selling goods. The police should go there also to conduct a surprise check.

Theft by renting a house

It is noteworthy that last month, the police had arrested three people of Bangladeshi thief gang on charges of theft worth lakhs from a property dealer in Mana police station area. The mastermind of the incident managed to escape to Bangladesh by crossing the border after committing the theft. The thief gang had taken a house on rent in Mana 10 days before the theft.

Police will hand over the list to the corporation

It is noteworthy that there is no provision for giving Atal Awas and BSUP houses on rent. Despite this, most of the people living in Atal Awas and BSUP Colony have given their houses on rent. Most of the people who have been given houses on rent are from other states. Keeping this BSUP Colony, Atal Awas, SSP, police in mind, the police are asking to mark the houses which have been given on rent and submit their list to the Municipal Corporation.
