In the 2023 assembly elections, BJP proved the predictions of political pundits wrong and once again captured power in the state. Many veteran leaders of BJP have registered record victories by defeating their rivals by huge margins. Brijmohan Agarwal, former BJP minister and MLA from Raipur South for the 8th time, was at number one. He defeated his rival and Congress candidate Mahant Ram Sunderdas by a record 67851 votes. Former IAS OP Chaudhary, BJP candidate from Raigarh, stood second. Who defeated Congress candidate Prakash Nayak by a record margin of 64446. BJP state president from Lormi Arun Sao, who was at third position on this list, defeated Congress candidate Thaneshwar Sahu by 45891 votes. At fourth position was former CM of the state and BJP candidate from Rajnandgaon, Dr. Raman Singh, who defeated Congress candidate Girish Dewangan by 45084 votes. BJP candidate from Dharsiwa and Chhattisgarhia films superstar Anuj Sharma was at fifth position, who defeated former Congress MP and considered trump card Chhaya Verma by 44341 votes.
Asha Ram Netam’s victory surprised
In the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, where the candidates defeated their opponents with huge votes, there were some candidates whose luck converted their defeat into victory. Among these, BJP candidate Asharam Netam from Kanker stood first, who won over Congress candidate Shankar Dhruv by just 16 votes. BJP candidate Rajesh Aggarwal from Ambikapur stood second, who won over Congress Deputy CM TS Singhdev by just 94 votes. Raigarh MP and BJP candidate from Pathalgaon Vis seat Gomti Sai stood third, who won by 255 votes over Congress candidate eight-time MLA Rampukar Singh. Tuleshwar Markam of Gondwana Gantantra Party stood fourth from Pali Tanakhar area, he won by 714 votes over Duleshwari Sidar of Congress. Congress candidate Janak Lal Dhruv from Bindra Navagarh area of Gariaband district stood fifth, he won by 816 votes over BJP candidate Govardhan Ram Manjhi.
