Senthil Balaji: Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister and DMK leader Senthil Balaji has not got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court refused to grant bail on medical grounds to Tamil Nadu minister and DMK leader V Senthil Balaji, who was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case. The Supreme Court said that Senthil Balaji’s illness does not appear to be serious enough to warrant bail.

Let us tell you that on October 30, Senthil Balaji’s bail petition came up for hearing in the Supreme Court on October 30. But after the senior lawyers were not present in the case, a request was made on behalf of Senthil Balaji to adjourn the hearing of the case. Accepting the request, the court adjourned the hearing on Senthil Balaji’s bail plea. After this, this petition was heard in the Supreme Court on 20th. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Senthil Balaji, said that we have filed the information about the treatment being given to Minister Senthil Balaji.
Also, it was requested on behalf of Senthil Balaji that bail should be granted in view of his health condition. At that time Justice Trivedi had asked where was the MRI report of Minister Senthil Balaji. After this, the Supreme Court adjourned the case related to the bail plea of Senthil Balaji till 28 November. In the hearing held today in this case, the Supreme Court rejected the bail plea of Minister Senthil Balaji and said that bail cannot be granted on medical grounds.
Bail petition can be considered only on merit and not on medical grounds. The bench also directed defense minister Senthil Balaji to file a regular bail plea in the trial court. After this, the bail petition on behalf of Minister Senthil Balaji was withdrawn.
