Shahid Afridi: Father-in-law Shahid Afridi got angry over speculations about removing son-in-law Shaheen from captaincy, showed mirror to PCB

New Delhi. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has come forward in defense of his son-in-law Shaheen Shah Afridi amid speculations about his removal from the captaincy. There are talks of removing Shaheen from the captaincy of Pakistan’s T20 team. To this Shahid Afridi said that I think if you have appointed someone as captain (Shaheen) and given him responsibility then give him some time also.

Shahid Afridi said while talking to the media, "The biggest problem of our cricket is that whenever faces change in Pakistan Cricket Board, our system changes. Whoever comes in thinks that what he is doing is best for Pakistan cricket."

Afridi, father-in-law, upset over Shaheen’s removal
Afridi further said, "If you change the captain then either the decision to appoint him was wrong or the decision to remove him now is wrong." After the ODI World Cup played in India last year, father-in-law Shahid Afridi was the biggest man behind making Shaheen Shah Afridi the captain of the T20 team. Babar Azam was removed from the captaincy after Pakistan’s poor performance in the ODI World Cup. After this he also left the captaincy of the Test team. Pakistan team could not progress beyond the league stage.

Afridi also advocated for foreign coach
Afridi also supported the appointment of a foreign coach. But said it should be a high-profile person like Andy Flower, who has an excellent track record. They said, "I believe that even if you bring a foreign coach, the staff under him should be Pakistani so that our people can also grow and improve their skills."

Wasim and Aamir were called to the national camp
Asked about the decision to include Imad Wasim and Muhammad Aamir in the national training camp, Afridi said it would have been better to assess their fitness first. They said,"But I can tell you that if they can come through this two-week training camp in Kakul they will be supermen."

Aamir, who returned from retirement after 2020, has also supported Shaheen as T20 captain. He had tweeted that Shaheen is not bad, he should be given more time to prove himself.
