Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said that there are 17,535 police stations across the country. He said that now 5G network has come in the country, but even then many of these police stations do not have wireless sets or mobile phones. According to government data, 175 out of 1,783 police stations in UP need wireless sets or mobile phones. Apart from this, talking about Punjab, there is a similar shortage in 35 out of 431 police stations.

There are 1.72 lakh computers in police stations across the country. According to government data, out of 17,535 police stations, only 14,834 police stations have CCTVs. The Union Minister said that out of 564 police stations in Jharkhand, 47 do not have any vehicle and 211 police stations do not have any telephone connection. 31 police stations are functioning without mobile phones or wireless sets. Rai said that 1.72 lakh computers are in police stations across the country.

In the capital Delhi, there are 9,472 computers in 225 police stations. In Assam, there are only 266 computers in 329 police stations. 9,637 computers are available in 1,783 police stations of UP. Also, only 1,533 police stations in UP have CCTV cameras.

The condition of police stations in Karnataka is the best

Talking about Karnataka, it is being seen much better than the national average, all the police stations in Karnataka have CCTVs. According to Bureau of Police Research and Development data, all police stations in Kerala have landline and wireless set/mobile phone service. Let us tell you that there are a total of 9,840 computers in these police stations. Every year the central government provides financial assistance to the states and union territories for the modeling of police stations. According to the report, in the year 2019-20, the government had given a total of Rs 781.12 crore. And Rs 103.25 crore was given in the middle of 2020-21 and Rs 158.57 crore in 2021-22.
