PM Modi in Surat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the world’s largest diamond exchange in Surat, Gujarat. It is also the largest office complex in the world. Apart from this, he has also gifted an international airport to Surat. This is expected to give a huge boost to trade and business in Surat. The world’s largest office is located in the Pentagon. This record has now been broken by the Diamond Bourse office of Surat. 90 percent of the world’s diamonds are polished in Surat. Surat is also famous for gold jewellery.
Specialty of Surat Diamond Bourse
The name of Surat Diamond Bourse has already been registered in the Guinness Book of World Records. It has the distinction of being the largest office building in the world. This building is built in 67 lakh square feet and about Rs 3500 crore has been spent on its construction. About 4,500 diamond trading offices can operate simultaneously in this building. This entire building has 9 towers of 15 floors. Offices ranging from 300 square feet to 1 lakh square feet have been built in it. This building has also received platinum rating from the Indian Green Building Council.

In his address here, PM Modi said that today Surat is one of the top 10 developing cities in the world. Surat’s street food, skill development work, everything is amazing. Surat was once known as ‘Sun City’. But today the people here have made it ‘Diamond City’ with their hard work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said that today the people of Surat and the businessmen here are getting two more gifts. Today itself the new terminal of Surat Airport has been inaugurated and the second big thing that has happened is that now Surat Airport has got the status of International Airport. I congratulate the people of Surat and the people of Gujarat for this wonderful terminal and international airport.

Along with this centre, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated a new terminal building at Surat Airport. A day before this he had made a post on Twitter. Praising him, he said that this Diamond Bourse office is a proof of how developed the diamond industry of Surat is. It is expected that this will help in strengthening the country’s economy. Apart from this, pictures of the airport terminal building were also shared. PM Modi conducted a road show from Surat Airport to Diamond Bourse and was given a grand welcome on the way. A large number of people arrived to welcome the PM. PM Modi was welcomed at 6 places from Surat Airport to Diamond Bourse. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also present on this occasion.
