Operation Ajay: Due to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, India is extremely worried about its citizens present there. India has started ‘Operation Ajay’ for the safe return of Indian citizens from Israel. Meanwhile, the second flight carrying Indian citizens landed in New Delhi on Saturday i.e. this morning. The second flight carrying 235 Indian citizens took off at 11.02 pm. As soon as the flight landed in Delhi. Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh welcomed the citizens at the airport.

The passengers were selected on a “first come, first served” basis following a campaign launched by the Indian Embassy to register all Indians in the mission’s database. The government is bearing the expenses of their return. About 18,000 Indian nationals live and work in Israel, including caregivers, students, many IT professionals and diamond traders.

The first batch arrived on Friday

India launched ‘Operation Ajay’ on Thursday to facilitate the return of people wishing to return home following Hamas’s surprise attack on Israel and subsequent fierce retaliation that led to chaos. The first charter flight to facilitate the return of Indian citizens wishing to return from Israel landed at Delhi Airport on Friday morning.

The Indian Embassy in Israel on Wednesday issued an advisory in which it asked Indian nationals living in the war-torn nation to register themselves with the embassies of India, Tel Aviv and Israel. In a video message, Indian Ambassador to Israel Sanjeev Singla assured the desperate people to remain calm and follow the guidelines issued by the local authorities and to contact the embassy’s emergency numbers in case of trouble.
