Gitanjali Dutta, a resident of Maniyabanda in Cuttack district of Odisha, falsely claimed that her husband Bijay Dutta had died in a train accident in Odisha. To prove this as authentic, Gitanjali Dutta also showed a fake Aadhaar card of another passenger. She also identified one of the bodies as that of her husband. However, after examining the documents, it was found that the woman’s claim was false. At that time the woman was released, but her difficulties increased when her husband gave her to Maniabandha police station. Gitanjali Dutta is absconding from home due to fear of arrest.

According to media reports, she has been living separately from her husband for the last 13 years. However, her husband has demanded strict action against Gitanjali. Also, she has appealed to the people to be safe from such type of women. I have lodged a complaint with the police and I want justice. The Maniyabanda police told Bijaydatta that he could file a complaint in this matter at the Bahanaga police station as the incident took place there.

Amount being given by the state and central government

The people killed in the Odisha train accident are being given Rs 9 lakh 50 thousand through check and Rs 50 thousand in cash from the Railways i.e. the full amount is Rs 10 lakh. At the same time, the State Government of Odisha is also providing assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the people who died in the accident.
